[Verse 1]
And the sky was made of amethyst
And all the stars were just like little fish
You should learn when to go
You should learn how to say, “No”

They use similes to describe the sky and how bright it can be. Comparing the stars to fish. If you really think about it this song was featured in the hit film “Jennifer’s Body” in which the main character Jennifer Check is lured into a van with a band in hopes of having fun but they had an ulterior motive in mind. To sacrifice her so they can become a famous group but she ends up getting possessed by a demon who kills boys.

The lyrics “you should learn when to go, you should learn how to say, no” can also be interpreted as a metaphor. Comparing the need to say no and to leave to a person being taken advantage of. “You should learn when to go” can help in certain situations as well as saying no.

[Pre-Chorus]
When they get what they want
And they never want it again
When they get what they want
And they never want it again

The only thought in my head is how they are referencing men and their desires. Men get what they want and they never want it again. “Getting what they want” refers to men wanting something from you and that one thing is sex and then they want nothing to do with you. Once they get it they want nothing to do with you. It’s honestly sad and disgusting how men treat people.

[Chorus]

Go on, take everything
Take everything, I want you to
Go on, take everything
Take everything, I want you to

Meaning in the situation the band is referencing to an experience they had with a man where they wanted him but all he wanted her for was sex and when she gave it to him he wanted nothing to do with her. In her mind, however, she wants him so badly that she would let him take everything from her not realizing what it entails.

[Verse 3]
Well, I told you from the start
Just how this would end
When I get what I want
And I never want it again

This could be interpreted as the man’s conversation, in which he tells them “from the start” that I get what I want and I never want it again. In a sense, this allows the listener to know that she knew from the start that he never wanted her, but she wanted him so badly that she thought if she gave up those things for him, he would eventually want her.

This could also be interpreted as a trick and making the listener believe that it wasn’t the man that was using the woman all along but swapping roles and letting us know that it was her (the woman) all along. She wanted him from the start to get what she wanted and then she never wanted him again.
