Intro

Loossemble is one of the two new groups formed from “Loona”, a k-pop girl group from South Korea. This group consists of five members HyunJin, ViVi, Go Won, HyeJu, and YeoJin. Today, we are reviewing one of their latest tracks called “Cotton Candy”, a song about falling in love. After reviewing the previous track on their latest project “TTYL”, I have very high hopes for this song.

Song Review

The first thing I noticed is that this is slower-paced than “TTYL,” but it is still not very slow. Their vocals are more on time with the rhythm which creates a nice flow with the song. The lyrics begin by stating “You’re like a candy, … You wanna take it on me…” showing how they are leading this sweet person to fall in love. The pre-chorus slows down but immediately goes back to a faster pace in the chorus stating, “Your are like, like, like candy”. The song leans more towards rap than anything else which I prefer, makes it easier to follow. This song definitely shows off their vocals a lot more than the last track “TTYL” on the project. Once the chorus hits, the beat drops and gets very groovy. You feel like doing a hip-hop dance like a glide or crisscross. The second verse is interesting because they use a lower pitch than the rest of the song which gives it a nice contrast. Afterward, we get a very slow but nice bridge before we go back to the amazing chorus to wrap it all up.

Final Thoughts

After listening to the song on repeat, I can say confidently that this is more my taste than anything else I have heard from them. I prefer this rap style of music to the hyper pop we got from “TTYL” because this is something I would listen to more often. The production quality is again top notch which makes everything sound clear. Unfortunately, I would have liked to have an outro to the song although it would have made it a little too long, probably passing the four-minute mark. After reading some comments on their music videos, I’m interested in the lore they have created from Loona and what they’re doing now with “Loossemble”. It’s cool to see fanbases appreciating and enjoying artists’ work especially when you know how much time is put in. After reviewing these two songs from their latest project, I will definitely be checking out their other work.
