Introducing Dan Croll’s “From Nowhere”

What’s going on my fellow songwatchers/music enthusiasts? We’re back with another weekly review of music we like. If you’re new here, feel free to agree or disagree with our opinions on the songs reviewed. We want your voice to be heard. Without further ado, let’s get into the music.

This week, we’re looking into electronic music. I’m going to be honest; I’m not well versed with electronic music. However, I can say that everytime I listen to electronic music, my mood changes for the better. This is the case especially for Dan Croll’s song “ From Nowhere (Baardsen Remix)”. “From Nowhere (Baardsen Remix)” holds nostalgic value for me. I can remember the very first time I heard this song. It might’ve been the first time a great deal of people were introduced to that song as well.

In 2014, Rockstar Games released a GTA V announcement trailer for Playstation 4, Xbox One & PC. The background song for that announcement trailer was none other than “From Nowhere (Baardsen Remix)”.  Watching the trailer, I was overly excited about GTA but I couldn’t help but wonder what that catchy song in the background was. I watched that trailer everyday until the game came out just to listen to the song. It meshed so well with the trailer. It wasn’t until the song randomly played on the game’s radio station that I found out the name.

The first twenty seconds of the song is so calming and relaxing. After we’re introduced to the beat, Dan Croll starts singing, continuing the relaxing tone. Following 40 seconds of singing and a 5 second build up for the beat, the electronic beat drops. That cycle sort of repeats for the rest of the song. The beat is energetic, but also soothing. Personally, it makes me want to drive to a beach and stare at the sunset. Anytime I’m having a bad day or just need a positive mood change, I play this song. Don’t let the bias fool you though, this song is really good. Even if electronic music isn’t your cup of tea, I suggest you give “From Nowhere (Baardsen Remix)” a shot. It might make you want to dive deeper into the electronic genre.
