Charlotte Emma Aitchison aka Charli was born in Cambridge, UK in 1992 and started her career by releasing her first song titled “Do It Well” which was released in 2008. Her very first popular “hit” she collaborated with an artist called Icona Pop on a song called “I Love It” which is an electric pop/ Hyper pop song released in 2012 and is commonly played in raves or parties. Her recent hit album titled “Brat” tackles Charlie’s life challenges while allowing the electronic production to transform the songs into an electronic/ pop vibe. The most streamed songs of the album are “Guess feat. Billie Eilish, Apple, and more. The song I will review is Club Classics from the Brat album.

She is talking about her experience when she goes to the club she prefers to hear her favorite songs. “Club Classics” means songs that are played in the club that make the crowd feel good and excited an example of what Charli is talking about is early 2000s UK club dance music.

When you go to the club you want to feel a sense of Euphoria, carelessness, or freedom from responsibility or time. “I wanna dance to me” she is telling the listeners she wants to listen to her own music or even dance by herself. “I wanna dance to A. G.” a. g. cook is an artist featured on the Brat Album with singer Addison Rae. She follows it by saying “I wanna dance to SOPHIE, I wanna dance to HudMo” She’s just listing off other artists that she would prefer to listen to in the club. SOPHIE is a transgender artist her music and what she stood for were always advocating for trans voices and rights. She sadly passed away on Jan 30, 2021, from accidently falling in Greece. Further in the Post chorus, she talks about the vibe she wants in the club and how she wants the DJ to play the songs. “Play the song fast not slow”. She explained how she wanted the music to feel – sweat marks all on my clothes. She wants to be blinded by the club’s lights. This again can be connected to the need for a euphoric feeling in the club.

My review of this song is that it’s a really awesome club song for just getting excited and going out with friends and forgetting yourself in the song. Shes just talking about going to the club and having the best time ever.
